i'm loving all the white pieces found on the runways this spring. as you can remember it gets hooott in t.o. in the summer. i know ill be busting out my white frocks, sipping a slurpie and keeping cool in style. don't cha just love how any colour paired (especially primary colours) just popa against the cool tint. this spring i think we should all replace the l.b.d. for a little white tee. ill be sure to take pics of me rockin' this trend, so stay tuned bourgeoisies!

can a girl have too many coats??

i love, love, LOVE coats, jackets and vests! to me they are one of the easiest things that you can throw on to jazz up an outfit or totally change the feel of it. other than shoes, they are that thing that can make u look fly or just make you look like a disaster. here are a few of the ones i own.

this one below is the one that i'm bidding on via ebay. i hope i get it!

people we love...catherine baba

catherine baba is a stylist in france. google her. she is amazing. who else rides a bike in ysl shoes? and i love that 90% of the time she is wearing a turban (even if she has a hat overtop!). i will definitely be discussing the wearability of turbans in the future...

Rachel Zoooooe!!!

love rachel as a stylist and we happen to share the same love for the 1970's too. so here are some of the looks from rachel zoe's fall 2011 lookbook (thanks to style.com)

it makes me suuuuper happy to see that i have some of these items already in my closet, such as the furry vest, the onsie, the maxi dress, the bow tie blouse, and the flared jeans. i obv need to invest in a poncho tho! i saw one on couture carrie blog that i loved, but i think that i want mine to be in forest green instead of grey.

ideas

here is the lace that i found in my stash of fabrics. oh i love the fabric store!

so i've come up with a few sketches for the fabric that i've chosen...

not too sure which one i'll do yet though. i've styled the one on the right, but the one on the left is simplistic enough that the pattern of the lace will show a lot better. i like the yoke aspect of it better than the plain elastic waistband too. hmmm....

yeah...not a good look!

Real 3D glasses?

photos courtesy of lookbook.nu

sometimes when fashion and movies come together we get classics like the devil wears prada. however in the case of the real 3d glasses fad we are not so lucky. like most fads, the real 3d look is an adaptation from high fashion. it was born out of the "nerd" look popularized by none other than marc jacobs. the difference between you and marc jacobs is that his glasses actually have lenses and every time he turns to the side, the whole world doesn't see a real 3d logo splashed on the arms. (on that note, last time i checked you were supposed to give those back when you were done your movie.) for all those trying to be fashionable, this fad will make you look: cheap, foolish and incapable of being able to successfully rock trends. here's a hint—get some real glasses! (no pun intended)

how to wear bold prints together

as you can see compared to my sister aynne's style ideas, mine look like they're straight from teen vogue. mixing prints is easiest when you stick to pairing two prints together. i say this for all the beginners out there who want to look good but don't know where to start. believe me this look can go bad very quickly. people get too print happy and the end result doesn't make you look fashionable but like a hot mess. i would never do more than four mixed prints because it can get distracting and we'll just save that look for gallivanting in the annex!

crazy for prints!

moschino - spring 2011, philosophy - spring 2011, timo weiland - spring 2011, stella mccartney - spring 2011, chris benz - spring 2011, rebecca taylor - spring 2011, cacharel - spring 2011

the trend that's everywhere on the spring runways is bold prints. you'll see me rocking them mixed together and adding a statement to simple pieces like LBDs. they're fun which i personally love and will scream look at me wherever you go. the way i see it after the gloomy winter we've had it'll be nice to bust out the colour in the spring, no? adding personality as well as bold colours to any outfit, the bold print is a must for a bourgeoisie's spring wardrobe.

all laced up

lace maxi skirts by free people

so i've been seeing all these lacy maxi skirts in stores and online for this spring and i am totally loving them. i've checked out a bunch and i have decided that i'm going to go ahead and make my own :) i haven't sewn in a while though, but i'll keep you posted as i go through the process...

i love the 70's! the clothes were so free and full of colour! these are just a few looks from a lookbook that i created on style.com. i don't really listen to a lot of 70's music, but i adore the looks from the hippie culture in particular inspire my designs quite a bit. i'm all over the flared pants coming back and maxi dresses are sooo comfortable and elegant at the same time.
